Bachelor's in Art or Music Education
Introduction
Art or Music Education is a Bachelor program taught at University of Louisiana at Lafeyette, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (Undergraduate) options.
Arts or Music Education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is a Bachelor of Arts in Education for undergraduate students who want to teach fine arts from kindergarten to 12th grade. Students learn to create lesson plans and teach them in local classrooms and camps. The degree includes a required concentration in Art Education, Instrumental Music Education, or Vocal Music Education, which becomes the student’s teaching specialty.
Coursework is supported by the Teacher Preparation Program, with three levels of experience in the classroom that include observing classes, developing lesson plans, leading individual lessons, and teaching entire classes. Students also complete a year-long teacher residency where they co-teach, co-plan, and co-reflect with a mentor teacher. Students may also access research centers in the College of Education, and complete student teaching and internships.
The program prepares graduates for certification through the Louisiana Department of Education to teach Art or Music Education, Gr K-12, in the chosen concentration area. Concentrations include studio and practicum experiences for art, and conducting, music theory, and instrument-family teaching for instrumental music. Vocal music includes preparation for directing choirs and vocal ensembles and understanding vocal pedagogy across soprano, alto, tenor, and bass ranges.
