Bachelor's in Political Science
Introduction
Political Science is a Bachelor program taught at University of Maine, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
Political Science at the University of Maine examines the nature of politics from diverse perspectives. Students study fundamental theories, principles, institutions, and practices of politics, placed in social and historical contexts. The program focuses on four primary areas: American politics, international relations, comparative politics, and political theory.
Instruction includes a few large lecture courses, with most lecture courses enrolling about 40 or fewer students. A range of small-enrollment, participatory seminar courses is also offered. Students integrate theoretical knowledge with practical professional experience through internships and field study, and they may work closely with faculty on research and coauthor published work.
The program prepares students for further study in graduate or law school and for careers in public service and related fields. Graduates go on to work in government service, campaigns and elections, advocacy and policy making, and public relations and business. Students also have opportunities to engage with programs and minors such as International Affairs, Leadership Studies, Legal Studies, the Cohen Institute for Leadership and Public Service, the Honors College, and the School of Policy and International Affairs.
