Biology, MS
Introduction
Biology, MS is a Masters program taught at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, USA. Intake: Fall (mid-August start date); Spring (mid-January start date). The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Master of Sciences (MS) in Biological Sciences is a research-intensive degree that prepares students for careers in the life sciences or further training toward a PhD in the biological sciences. Students conduct independent research and complete one of two degree tracks: Plan I (with thesis) or Plan II (without thesis).
Plan I requires independent research, a formal thesis formatted to university guidelines, and a public defense of the thesis. Plan II also requires independent research, plus a Capstone Experience Research Report and a formal defense of the research. Under both plans, students submit a formal research proposal by their second semester in residence and take final written and oral examinations before the degree is granted.
