Computer Aided Drafting and Design

The Computer Aided Drafting and Design Certificate trains students to learn, develop, and practice computer aided drafting and computer graphics for conceptual, design, and construction drawings. The program uses a professionally focused curriculum centered on practical application of skills related to the interior design field.

Students complete program requirements totaling 12 units across graphics and computer-aided drafting courses. Required courses include Graphics Techniques for Interior Design, Introduction to Computer-Aided Interior Design, Advanced Computer Aided Design, and Introduction to Rhino. Successful completion prepares students to produce CADD drawings, organize hand-drafted and CADD drawings using industry standards, and plan and generate CADD drawing files using common and advanced CADD tools.

The certificate can lead to career opportunities with interior design firms, architectural firms, kitchen and bath design firms, commercial furniture dealerships, corporate facilities departments, design-build firms, and retail furnishings stores.
