Interior Design Fundamentals

Interior Design Fundamentals is a program taught at West Valley College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Interior Design Fundamentals Associate in Science degree at West Valley College provides a curriculum focused on the basic and essential aspects of interior design, with an emphasis on practical application at the entry level. Students combine interior design studies with general education courses to practice professionally as design assistants or to continue into bachelor’s degree programs.

The degree includes Major Core Requirements totaling 31 units and Major Electives totaling 4 units, for a total of 35 major units. Core topics include introduction to interior design, elements and principles, color theory, finish materials, interior construction and building systems, green and sustainable design, graphics techniques, interior design history, kitchen and bath design, computer-aided interior design, and lighting design. The program also includes an Interior Design Internship elective.
