Anthropology (Applied Anthropology) is a Bachelor program taught at Western Kentucky University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Anthropology major at Western Kentucky University (Bachelor of Arts) covers the scientific and humanistic study of human culture and biology. Students study interactions between human culture and biology in contemporary societies and in the archaeological and evolutionary past, build cross-cultural perspectives, and use a broad four-field approach: cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and archaeology. The applied anthropology concentration uses anthropological knowledge and methods to address contemporary human problems such as poverty and the human dimensions of global environmental change.
The program is delivered by full-time faculty and emphasizes hands-on learning in the classroom, in the laboratory, and in the field. The major requires 31 semester hours, including a six-course (16-hour) core curriculum: ANTH 120, ANTH 125, ANTH 130, ANTH 135, ANTH 399, and ANTH 499.
