Introduction
Communication Disorders is a Bachelor program taught at Western Kentucky University, USA. Intake: Fall semester following admission. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Communication Disorders Bachelor of Science at Western Kentucky University provides pre-professional education for students who plan to pursue graduate study in speech-language pathology, audiology, or related areas. The program prepares students academically for work that involves assessing, diagnosing, treating, and serving children and adults with communication challenges, disorders, differences, or delays. All courses follow guidelines recommended by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
The major requires 55 hours in specialization areas of speech-language pathology and audiology, followed by a clinical internship course (CD 495 Clinical Internship). Students complete supervised clinical clock hours working with people who have communication disorders. Before clinical experiences, students undergo criminal background checks and must provide proof of a recent physical examination, professional liability insurance, and a tuberculin skin test, with updates required annually.
