Introduction

Health Sciences is a Diploma program taught at Western Piedmont Community College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

The Health Sciences Associate in Applied Science prepares students for healthcare careers through courses essential for health practice. The program aims to give students professional standards, discipline-specific and general education skills, and academic preparation for career growth or further study in advanced health science programs. Students can also earn stackable credentials along the way in relevant roles such as phlebotomy and nurse aide.

Coursework includes the use of current healthcare technologies, specialized health science competencies, and training within interdisciplinary teams. The program is organized to support both entry-level healthcare support roles and continued education toward additional credentials and study.

Graduates are eligible to apply to Appalachian State University’s online bachelor’s in health science program. That bachelor’s program is designed for individuals who have earned an Associate in Applied Science degree from a North Carolina community college, and many WPCC healthcare program graduates have benefited from transferring into ASU’s program.
