Environmental Studies
Introduction
Environmental Studies is a program taught at Wittenberg University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Environmental Science major at Wittenberg University offers a B.A. and a B.S. Students complete coursework and then develop an area of focus through independent research or applied project work. Possible focus areas include climate change, conservation biology, aquatic ecosystems, stream resources, water resources, environmental justice, and wildlife management. Students work with an advisor and the program director to discuss interests and build a plan of study.
Degree requirements include a capstone experience. The B.A. requires 50 credits of coursework and includes required environmental science courses (ESCI 101, 250, 290, and 494), plus social sciences or humanities, and statistics. The B.S. requires 67 credits, including additional required statistics and computer science, mathematics, or statistics requirements. Course choices also include foundational and advanced courses selected in consultation with an advisor and aligned to a theme of study.
Wittenberg also offers an Environmental Studies minor and an option for an interdepartmental major with approval from the provost and the Environmental Science Program Committee. For exceptional students, a cooperative program with Duke University allows students to earn a B.A. from Wittenberg and an M.A. from Duke.
