Introduction

Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Banking and Finance is a Bachelor program taught at Bindura University of Science Education, Zimbabwe. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (four years) options.

The Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Banking and Finance gives students a structured study of business and finance topics, including Financial Accounting, Business Law, Corporate Finance, Banking Theory and Practice, Treasury Management, Taxation, Research Methods, and Monetary Economics. Students also study research and project work through courses such as Industrial Attachment and Research Project, plus senior modules like Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Advanced Corporate Finance, and Risk Management and Derivative Securities.

The programme runs over four years and includes Part I, Part II, and Part IV as coursework semesters, plus Part III Industrial Attachment. Courses are assessed using coursework and written examinations. Industrial Attachment is assessed using supervisor reports, supervisor assessment visits, and student Industrial Training reports. The final assessment for each course uses coursework weightings of 30% and examinations of 70%.

Graduates can pursue employment opportunities in banking institutions, finance houses, discount houses, asset management companies, micro finance companies, financial advisory services, investment management companies, non-governmental organizations, local authorities, and related organizations.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission in Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Banking and Finance at Bindura University of Science Education for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Bindura University of Science Education as pre-requiste for admission in Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Banking and Finance.

To qualify for normal entry into the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Banking and Finance at Bindura University of Science Education, prospective students, in addition to satisfying the minimum conditions prescribed under the General Regulations, must

Have obtained at least five ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics passed with a Grade C or better,
Have obtained ‘A’ level passes in at least two of the following subjects: Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Studies and Management of Business.

NB: Special or Mature Entry admissions shall be in accordance with the General Regulations.
