The Graduate Programs Scholarship Opportunities offer limited 100% tuition-fee scholarships for new PhD students and limited 100% tuition-fee scholarships for new master’s students from Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and limited 50% tuition-fee scholarships for new international master’s students. It is available through the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research and is tied to available quota.

International students can apply for 100% scholarships for PhD programs and 50% scholarships for master’s programs. Turkish Republic and TRNC citizens can apply for 100% scholarships for master’s and PhD programs. Scholarship eligibility requires first-time enrollment in the respective program, and students with special or visiting student status are not eligible.

Applications are made during the online graduate program application. Applications are accepted twice a year for Fall and Spring semesters. Departments rank applicants based on departmental assessment criteria (not only CGPA). Shortlisted candidates are announced in the scholarship calendar and must complete registration by the working hours of the deadline date to receive the scholarship.

The scholarship covers only tuition fees. Support lasts for three academic semesters for non-thesis master’s programs, four academic semesters for master’s programs with thesis, and ten academic semesters for PhD programs. Students who cannot graduate within the stipulated time and are entitled to an extension have tuition reduced by half for the next two semesters. Scholarship continuation requires success in all courses and a minimum 3.00 out of 4.00 CGPA each semester; semesters in scientific preparation and/or English support count if a maximum period of one year is not exceeded.

• Applicant type: Students who will enroll in their respective programs for the first time may apply for scholarship opportunities.
• Exclusion (re-applying after termination/dismissal): Students who terminate (or dismissed) their registration and re-apply cannot get scholarship.
• Exclusion (prior EMU study at same level): Scholarship is not given to students who were once registered in the same level of program of Eastern Mediterranean University and re-apply; if detected, the scholarship is cancelled.
• Exclusion (student status): Students registered with special or visiting student status are not eligible.
• Programs covered: PhD programs and master’s programs.
• Citizenship categories: International students; Turkish Republic citizens; Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) citizens.
• PhD minimum requirement (CGPA): Minimum 3.00 (out of 4.00) CGPA or equivalent from an undergraduate degree program for international, TRNC, and TR national PhD program applicants.
• PhD alternative requirement (CGPA band + graduate CGPA): For applicants graduated with 2.75–2.99 CGPA (out of 4.00) from an undergraduate degree program or equivalent, a minimum CGPA of 3.50 (out of 4.00) or equivalent from a graduate (Master’s) program graduation.
• Master’s minimum requirement for TR national and TRNC applicants: Minimum 3.00 (out of 4.00) or higher undergraduate graduation CGPA to be considered for 100% scholarship.
• Master’s alternative requirement for TR national and TRNC applicants (CGPA band + ALES): For graduation with 2.75–2.99 CGPA (out of 4.00) from an undergraduate degree program or equivalent, with a relevant ALES score of 65 or higher for thesis programs, or an ALES minimum score of 65 from any type for non-thesis programs.
• Selection approach: Departments rank applicants based on departmental assessment criteria (not only CGPA).
• Registration timing for shortlisted candidates: Shortlisted candidates must complete registration by the working hours of the given deadline date.
• Compelling reason appeal: Students whose name appeared in the scholarship list but could not complete registration by the deadline due to compelling reasons (example given: visa, transportation issues) may appeal to the academic department and to the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research before the deadline for an extension upon approval.
• Exclusion (master’s scholarship re-enrollment behavior): Scholarship is not given to students who terminate their registration with the University and re-apply in order to get scholarship; the scholarship is cancelled if such behaviour is detected.
• Category E research assistant condition (for 100% scholarship holders): Students granted with 100% scholarship are appointed as Category E Research Assistant and are expected to undertake duties for at least 6 hours per week at academic units or, if deemed necessary, administrative units.

• Tuition fee coverage only: The scholarship covers only tuition fee.
• Not covered: Student services fund to be paid every semester, university registration fee (at first enrolment only), and books.
• PhD scholarship level: 100% tuition fee scholarship for international students from the PhD programs; (also stated for new students from Turkey and TRNC in PhD programs).
• Master’s scholarship level: 100% tuition fee scholarship for new students from Turkey and TRNC; 50% tuition fee scholarship for international students in the Master’s programs.
• Duration: Three academic semesters for non-thesis master’s programs; four academic semesters for master’s programs with thesis; ten academic semesters for PhD programs.
• Extension reduction: If a student cannot graduate within the stipulated time and is entitled to an extension, the scholarship is reduced by half in the next two semesters and tuition fees are calculated based on the new student’s tuition fee for that term.

1. Apply for scholarship opportunities during the online program application for the graduate program.
2. Enroll in the respective program for the first time (terminating or being dismissed and re-applying cannot receive scholarship).
3. Submit the online graduate program application for the relevant intake period; applications are accepted twice a year for Fall and Spring semesters.
4. If shortlisted, complete university registration by the working hours of the given deadline date.
5. If registration cannot be completed by the deadline due to compelling reasons (example given: visa, transportation issues), appeal to the academic department and to the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research before the deadline for an extension upon approval.
