Scholarship Description: Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, University of Surrey is inviting applications for six PhD Studentships in Vision, Speech and Signal Processing. These studentships are for UK and EU countries students.

The studentships main aim is to advance the state of the art in multimedia signal processing and computer vision, with a focus on image, video and audio applications.

About University: The University of Surrey was established on 9 September 1966 with the grant of its Royal Charter, but its roots go back to a late 19th-century concern to provide greater access to further and higher education for the poorer inhabitants of London.

Degree Level: Positions are available for pursuing PhD programme.

Available Subject: PhD Studentships are awarded in the fields of: Audio-visual Signal Processin, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Data Science for Media, Computational Photography and 3D Video, Spatial Audio and Machine Audition, Robot Vision and Autonomous Systems, Biometrics and Surveillance, Medical Image Analysis and Healthcare Technology, Multimedia Communication Systems, Digital Doubles and Free-viewpoint Video, Vision and Audio for TV, Film, Games, Virtual and Augmented Reality.

Scholarship Benefits: These 3-year PhD studentships will cover Home/EU fees, a tax-free maintenance grant of up to £14,296 per annum and contribution to travel costs to present your research at national and international conferences. Enhanced stipends £19,000 per annum are available on industry supported collaborative PhD research projects.  Studentships are also open to overseas students provided they can support the difference between home and overseas fees (£15,880).

Number of Awards: Six studentships will be awarded.

Eligibility: All applicants should have (or expect to obtain) a first-class degree in a numerate discipline (mathematics, science or engineering) and a strong interest in pursuing research in this field.

Eligible Nationalities: UK and EU students can apply for these positions.
