Developing Countries Postdoctoral Fellowships Program at United Nations University IIGH, Malaysia

United Nations University-International Institute for Global Health offers postdoctoral fellowships for an initial period of 12 months (with the possibility of renewal for an additional 12 months). These fellowships serve to complement the PhD Fellowship Programme. Applications from qualified candidates from all countries are welcome; women and applicants from developing countries are particularly encouraged to apply.

The UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) in Kuala Lumpur is now accepting applications for its 2015 Postdoctoral Fellowships Programme.

Objectives:

The four core objectives of this programme are:

  1. to give young scholars an opportunity to participate in and contribute to the research activities of UNU-IIGH on pressing global health issues;
  2. to enable young scholars, particularly those from developing countries, to conduct postdoctoral-level research in an international academic environment;
  3. to provide scholars from other countries an opportunity to interact with Malaysian scholars; and
  4. to allow UNU-IIGH to benefit from the diverse knowledge, background and experience offered by scholars from around the world.

Period & Award:

The fellowship, for an initial period of 12 months (with the possibility of renewal for an additional 12 months), is remunerated by a monthly stipend.

Eligibility:

Applications from qualified candidates from all countries are welcome; women and applicants from developing countries are particularly encouraged to apply. The deadline for application submissions is 31 October 2014.

Applicants must hold a recent PhD (or at least have successfully defended their PhD thesis prior to the date of commencement of the fellowship) in an area closely related to the three thematic research areas of UNU-IIGH:

  • Governance for Global Health,
  • Planetary Change and Health, and
  • Universal Health Coverage.

Fellows will be required to work on an assigned project (or projects), draft manuscripts for publication, and participate in the academic activities of the Institute (including regular in-house discussions and seminars). Research topics and proposals must be relevant to one of the above-three UNU-IIGH thematic research areas.

 Application Deadline: 31 Oct 2014
