Eligibility Requirements for Fulbright Egyptian Student Program

To be eligible for the Fulbright Egyptian Student Program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required.
  • Nationality: You must be an Egyptian citizen. Holders of U.S. green cards and/or passports are not eligible.
  • Residence: Applicants must be residing in Egypt throughout the application, selection, placement, and pre-departure processes.
  • Academic Background: Hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of “Good” for applicants in American studies, humanities, and social sciences, and a minimum of “Very Good” for applicants in the sciences.
  • English Language Proficiency: Provide proof of English language proficiency by submitting a score report from one of the following tests:
    • TOEFL ITP – minimum required score of 550
    • TOEFL iBT – minimum required score of 80
    • Academic or General IELTS – minimum overall score of 6.5 (no required score for each section)
  • Program Restrictions: Applicants in the fields of medicine, veterinary medicine, nursing, and dentistry should note that clinical studies or direct patient contact cannot be part of their master’s programs.
