The Hertie School fosters exceptional students who are open to diverse points of view. It emphasizes interdisciplinary education. STEM, economics, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are used to educate good government and decision-making around the world. The New Perspectives Scholarship is available for students with a STEM or economics undergraduate degree who want to combine their previous training with the abilities and knowledge needed for effective policymaking in all sectors or jobs in the international arena.

Who is it for?
All applicants are motivated to pair their STEM background with public policy or international affairs training to effect positive change in any sector.
How to apply
- First, submit astandard application to the MPP, MIA, or MDS program.
- Additionally, write a brief letter of motivation (max. 900 words), create a photo essay (max. 5 pages), or make a short video (max. 2 minutes) elaborating on the following: Please identify a specific social or political problem that you would like to solve and explain how a degree in public policy or international affairs, together with your prior education and professional experience, would help you do so.
