Hochschule Trier offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts “Edelstein und Schmuck” with the aim of providing students in 6 Semestern with comprehensive, career-qualifying knowledge in Edelsteingestaltung and Schmuckgestaltung. The study focuses on developing an individual artistic “handwriting” through artistic subjects such as Edelsteingestaltung, Schmuckgestaltung, Gestaltungsgrundlagen, Fotografie, and CAD. Practical, handcraft-oriented work and learning various jewelry-suitable materials are part of the program.
The program also includes theory courses such as Mineralogie, Metallurgie, Schmuckgeschichte, and other subjects like Geisteswissenschaften and Kunsttheorie. For professional practice, it includes BWL, Recht, Kunstmanagement, and Existenzgründung. Regular excursions to cities, trade fairs, and exhibitions support the study, and the campus organizes offers including the symposium “ThinkingJewellery,” the exhibition program “Idar-Oberstein schmückt sich,” and an Artist in Residence program.
