Cologne University of Applied Sciences Germany Gottfried Böhm Scholarship

The Gottfried Böhm Scholarship supports architects and urban planners in the postgraduate phase who are particularly interested in the connection between architecture and urban development. Under the patronage of Cologne's mayor Torsten Burmester, the one-year residency scholarship takes place in Cologne. The scholarship holder works for one year on tasks in architecture and urban development for Cologne and its periphery.

The scholarship is offered and supervised by the Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Technischen Hochschule Köln e.V. The scholarship holder receives individual professional support throughout the one-year residency from a renowned tutor, and an advisory committee is available to support the scholarship holder.

Selection involves a review of application documents followed by a jury meeting, with the scholarship holder announced after the jury meeting. The end of the fellowship is publicly marked with a festive event at Cologne City Hall and an exhibition of urban planning ideas for two weeks in the atrium of the Spanish Building.

Support lasts for a one-year residency. For this period, the scholarship holder receives free accommodation, a workplace in a creative environment in the heart of the city, and a monthly grant totaling 2,500 euros. Professional support is provided during the residency, and public presentation and exhibition of results is part of the fellowship ending.
