DAAD Germany Alfried Krupp Fellowships

The Alfried Krupp Fellowships enable researchers from Germany and abroad to stay at Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald. The fellowship programme supports research projects and promotes interdisciplinary exchange at the Greifswald site. Fellows are able to focus on a scientific project for an extended period while also participating in academic life at the Kolleg and the University of Greifswald.

The programme is aimed at researchers across different fields and career stages. The Alfried Krupp Senior-Fellowship is for individuals distinguished by outstanding achievements in research and teaching. The Alfried Krupp Junior-Fellowships are awarded to particularly qualified postdoctoral early-career researchers. Applicants are expected to submit a research proposal that can be developed and, where possible, completed during the stay.

The fellowship call is announced annually. The programme expects that fellows pursue a larger research project during their time at the Kolleg and, where possible, bring it to completion. The application should show how the planned project strengthens the research priorities of the University of Greifswald and makes an important contribution to promoting science and research at the academic location in Greifswald.

Support lasts either 6 or 12 months, with fellow appointments for a semester or for an academic year. Fellows receive an apartment and a workspace in the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg rent-free. Additional insurance and travel or laboratory costs are not covered by the Kolleg. The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg supports applicants who enter with persons with whom they live in a registered partnership and/or with children.

• Applicants must be researchers from Germany or abroad applying for a fellowship stay at Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald.
• Applicants for an Alfried Krupp Senior-Fellowship must be personalities recognized for outstanding achievements in research and teaching.
• Applicants for an Alfried Krupp Junior-Fellowship must be particularly qualified postdoctoral early-career researchers.
• Applicants are expected to pursue a larger research project during the fellowship and, where possible, complete it.
• Applicants are expected to live at the Kolleg during the fellowship and establish their primary place of residence there.
• The Kolleg welcomes fellows offering teaching activities for students of the University of Greifswald during their stay.
• The application must explain how the planned project strengthens the University of Greifswald’s research foci and makes a substantial contribution to promoting science and research at the academic location in Greifswald.
• Applications can only be submitted if the applicant’s status and/or country are available in the DAAD application eligibility lists; if status and/or country are not listed, the applicant cannot apply for this funding programme.

• Ability to concentrate on a scientific project for an extended period while participating in academic life at the Kolleg and the University of Greifswald.
• Support for applicants who attend with a partner with whom they live in a registered partnership and/or with children.
