DAAD Germany Double Degree Scholarship

DAAD’s programme “Integrierte internationale Studiengänge mit Doppelabschluss – Vorbereitungsphase” aims at developing or implementing international study programmes with joint curricula between German and foreign higher education institutions. It supports groups of high-achieving German and international students who study alternately at the German and partner institutions and receive both national degrees (Joint Degree or Double Degree). DAAD states that the study programmes should strengthen the exchange of teachers and learners and contribute to building, expanding, and sustaining international structures at German higher education institutions.

The programme support focuses on developing, implementing, and further developing a double degree study programme, and on building up international structures at German higher education institutions as well as mobility of students from the German higher education institution. The programme is structured into three phases: Vorbereitungsphase, Förderphase, and Anschlussförderung after a Förderphase lasting eight years.

DAAD describes the programme as supporting project funding in the preparation phase. The application is submitted via the DAAD portal under “Online-Antragstellung” for “Doppelabschluss Vorbereitungsphase”. DAAD also provides an information event for applicants, and explains portal closing time and the possibility to request an extension of the application deadline by email in cases of technical disruptions or force majeure.

Support is organized in phases, with the preparation phase being part of a longer programme structure. After the Förderphase, DAAD describes an Anschlussförderung. The programme text also indicates that the Förderphase can run for eight years, after which Anschlussförderung follows.

• DAAD includes bachelor students, master students, scientists, professors as target groups of the programme.
• Double degree projects with France can only be submitted via the Deutsch-Französische Hochschule (DFH).
• Applications for double degree projects with partner institutions in the Russian Federation and Belarus are not possible due to the Russian attack on Ukraine and DAAD’s suspension of institutional forms of cooperation with partners in those countries.

1. Apply via online application through the DAAD portal for “Doppelabschluss Vorbereitungsphase 2027-2028”.
2. Ensure the submission is completed before the DAAD portal closes at 24:00 (MEZ or MESZ) on the last application day.
3. If the application cannot be submitted by the deadline due to technical disruptions or force majeure, request an extension by email to DAAD before the deadline; describe and document the issue (for example, with a screenshot).

5. DAAD provides an information event for applicants with information about the programme and general notes; registration is requested by 31.08.2026 via a LimeSurvey link and the participation link is sent to the email provided after the registration period.
