Deutschlandstipendium Scholarship

The Deutschlandstipendium is a German public-private scholarship programme that supports talented and high-achieving students at public and state-recognised universities in Germany. The programme provides financial and non-material support. It is modelled on public-private partnership: businesses, foundations, or private individuals sponsor young talent with a pledge of 150 euros per month, and the Federal Government matches this amount with another 150 euros.

The programme is aimed at first- and higher-semester students of all nationalities at participating universities in Germany. It supports students at all participating universities in Germany and is awarded without consideration of personal or parent income. The selection criteria include academic achievement, social commitment, and personal achievements.

The Deutschlandstipendium is awarded by the universities. Applicants must meet the requirements of the individual institutions, and selection includes criteria beyond academic achievement, including social commitment and personal achievements such as overcoming challenges or obstacles in a social or family background.

Funding is normally granted for at least two semesters, but may be provided for a maximum time that covers the standard period of study. At intervals of two semesters, the university reviews whether the scholarship holder still meets the award criteria and whether private funding will continue to be available. Additional non-financial support may include mentoring programmes, networking events, and internships.
