Heinrich Boll Foundation Scholarships

The Heinrich Böll Foundation's scholarship program awards study and doctoral scholarships to German and international students and doctoral candidates. The scholarships are funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Federal Foreign Office.

The scholarships are granted to graduates, and doctoral students from outside Germany; an application for a scholarship for an undergraduate degree is not possible. The scholarship department also supports applicants who study and graduate and have a positive attitude towards the goals of the Green project and share the fundamental ideals of the Heinrich Böll Foundation.

Applications are accepted twice a year, and applicants must apply online only. Applicants register for the online application portal, provide the requested information, upload the required documents, and submit the application before the end of the application deadline.

• Applicants may be German or international students and doctoral candidates.
• Scholarships are granted to graduates and doctoral students from outside Germany.
• An application for a scholarship for an undergraduate degree is not possible.
• International applicants have to prove proficiency in German.
• Good or very good knowledge of German is required (at least B2 Level or DSH1).
• Applicants must submit applications online only.
