Scholarship for People with Disabilities

IU Stipendium & Förderung includes a “Stipendium für Menschen mit Beeinträchtigung”. IU Internationale Hochschule GmbH describes this stipend as financial support for people who have an ongoing health-related limitation, with the stated purpose of helping applicants move closer to a study qualification.

IU describes that this stipend is for people who can prove an ongoing health-related impairment, for example via a Schwerbehindertenausweisausweis (severely disabled person ID) or an medical certificate. Applicants must be aiming for a distance-learning (“Fernstudium”) programme at IU and their study must not yet have started.

IU outlines a selection and activation process: applicants fill in an online scholarship application and upload the required documents within the specified time window. IU informs applicants about approval or rejection by email. If approved, the personal discount code must be redeemed within the stated redemption period in the applicant’s online application, and the applicant must sign the study contract within the contract signing deadline; the stipend claim expires if the signing deadline passes.

1. Fill in the scholarship application form for “Stipendien”, stating your desired programme. The application applies for the month in which you submit the application.
2. Upload your documents within the stated time window in step 2 of the application form.
3. Wait for IU’s decision: IU informs you of approval or rejection by email at the latest by the stated cutoff day of the following month; if documents are missing, you also receive a rejection.
4. If approved, redeem your personal discount code within the stated redemption period in your online application on IU’s website. IU sends the relevant information by email with the approval.
5. Sign your study contract within the stated deadline. IU states that the scholarship entitlement expires once that deadline has passed.
6. Start your study at the contract start date to receive the access and information required to begin; IU provides support for questions about the study.
