Scholarship for Women in Tech

IU Internationale Hochschule GmbH awards “IU Stipendium & Förderung” and says it grants, each month in four categories, one 50%-Stipendium to people with an “especially inspiring background” who have not started studying at IU. The stated financial support is a discount on study fees, and the goal is to support study financially.

The Stipendium for Women in Tech is for “MINT-pionierinnen” and is available for applicants who apply for one of IU’s bachelor’s or master’s programmes in the area IT & Technik. The broader IU stipend checklist also requires that the study is in distance learning and that the programme has not been started.

For selection, IU uses the standard stipend application process: applicants submit an online application form for a desired stipend, upload required documents within a set time, and receive a decision by IU. IU informs applicants via acceptance or rejection and provides a personal discount code by email; IU also states that missing documents lead to rejection.

To activate the stipend, the discount code must be redeemed within a set timeframe in the online application on IU’s website. IU then states that the applicant must sign the study contract in time; the stipend entitlement expires once the deadline has passed. The page also states that the chosen study start can be further in the future.

1. Fill out the IU stipend application form for “Stipendien” and enter the desired study programme. IU states that the application applies for the month in which it is submitted.
2. Upload the documents in step 2 of the application form within 24h.
3. Wait for IU’s decision: IU states it will inform applicants of acceptance or rejection by the 15th of the following month; a personal discount code is sent by email. IU also states that if documents are missing, a rejection is sent.
4. Activate the stipend: IU states the discount code must be redeemed within 6 weeks in the online application on IU’s website.
5. Sign the study contract in time. IU states the stipend entitlement expires as soon as the deadline has passed.
6. Start the study at the contract start date. IU states that applicants receive access and information at the beginning of the contract.
