Ashesi-ETH Zurich Master in Mechatronic Engineering Scholarship

The Ashesi-ETH Master in Mechatronic Engineering programme is a graduate programme in Mechatronic Engineering offered by Ashesi University and ETH Zurich, with crucial funding supported by the ETH Foundation. The stated purpose is to create a master’s degree that educates the next generation of leading engineers for Africa through a programme delivered in block courses developed and taught together by faculty from both universities.

The programme is aimed at graduate students for a master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering. Admission considers bachelor’s or master’s degree holders in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, computer, allied engineering, or other related degrees, and requires a recent degree award with either a specified time window or consistent on-the-job professional development. It is offered as a two-year standalone programme.

Selection is based on admission requirements that include submitting a statement of purpose, official transcript, curriculum vitae/résumé, motivation statement, and references (at least two). Applicants must also provide English language test evidence when English was not the language of instruction, and materials are subject to verification for tests.

Support during the programme includes block-course teaching, hands-on experience through an internship, and research experience through a professional project and a master’s thesis linked to an industry partner and/or research groups. On completion, students receive an MSc/MPhil Mechatronic Engineering from Ashesi University, with some teaching and supervision support from ETH Zurich faculty. The programme also includes mentorship, support for job placement via Ashesi career services, and career linking to industry partners.

• Timing/experience: Applicants must have received the bachelor’s or master’s degree in the past five years, OR applicants with the aforementioned degrees who have also had consistent on-the-job professional development such as cutting edge training.
• Statement: A statement of purpose must be added to the application.
• English language: Unless English was the language of instruction, applicants must provide a language test such as TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or other tests, subject to verification.
