Petroleum University of Technology: the applicant's brief

6 findings
  1. The short answer

Petroleum University of Technology is a public university in Iran focused on study tied to the oil and gas sector. It suits international applicants who want engineering and related business study with a clear industry connection and are comfortable checking the details directly with the university.

  2. What you can study

It offers B.Sc., M.S. and Doctorate programmes for upstream and downstream oil and gas industry fields including petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, offshore engineering, instrumentation engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, accounting, and marine engineering. It also has some research centers.

  3. Getting in

International applicants should apply through the universityโ€™s official website and confirm the current entry requirements, document list, language requirements, and programme availability for the level they want. The universityโ€™s international admissions process is not described in detail, so the admissions office should confirm any faculty-specific steps and deadlines.

  4. What it costs

The university does not publish a tuition fee range; confirm the current cost with its admissions office. Living costs in Iran will depend on the city and personal spending, so applicants should budget separately for housing, transport, food, and other daily expenses.

  5. Coming from abroad

The language of instruction is not stated, so applicants should check this before applying. They should also confirm which campus they would attend, how their programme is delivered, what documents are needed for a visa, and whether the course they want is open to international students.

  6. How it compares

Iran has 193 universities, and this one stands out for its direct focus on petroleum and related engineering subjects rather than a broad general profile. Its public status and oil-industry funding make it more specialised than many universities in the country, which may suit applicants looking for a narrower technical pathway.

Written from this university's catalogue entry and its cited encyclopedia summary. Figures are only shown where the institution or a cited source publishes them โ€” always confirm fees and entry requirements with the university itself before applying.
