Gwangju National University of Education is a public national university in Gwangju, South Korea, focused on training elementary school teachers. It suits applicants who want a teacher-education pathway rather than a broad multi-subject university.
The university is designed to raise high-quality elementary school teachers. It runs four-year teacher training programmes and also has a graduate school, so the main study route is teacher education rather than a wide catalogue of subjects.
International applicants should check the official website for the current application route, required documents, and any language or qualification rules before applying. Because admissions details can change, confirm the exact entry requirements, deadlines, and document list directly with the university.
The university does not publish a tuition fee range, so confirm the current cost with its admissions office. Living costs in Gwangju will depend on housing, food, transport, and personal spending, so budget for those separately.
The main practical question is whether your background matches a teacher-training university and whether you meet the current admission requirements for international students. Also confirm the language of instruction, document translation and notarisation rules, visa steps, housing, and any fee payment deadlines on the official website.
South Korea has 245 universities, so this institution sits within a large higher-education system but is more narrowly focused than many general universities. Its clear strength is teacher education, which makes it a better fit for applicants who want elementary teacher training than for those looking for a broad academic menu.
Written from this university's catalogue entry and its cited encyclopedia summary. Figures are only shown where the institution or a cited source publishes them — always confirm fees and entry requirements with the university itself before applying.
