Northern Michigan University: the applicant's brief

6 findings
  1. The short answer

Northern Michigan University is a public university in Marquette, Michigan, with undergraduate, graduate, and professional study options. It suits students who want a broad academic offer in the United States and are ready to check programme-specific entry requirements.

  2. What you can study

Northern Michigan University offers 23 listed programmes across bachelor's, master's, PhD/doctorate, and professional levels. Example subject areas include Actuarial Studies, Applied Mathematics, Biological Sciences, Biology, Clinical Psychology, and Computational Linguistics; the university also states that it offers about 180 programs across five academic divisions.

  3. Getting in

International applicants should apply by programme and check the entry requirements for the exact course they want, since requirements can differ by level and subject. The university website is the place to confirm deadlines, document requirements, English language expectations, and any visa-related steps.

  4. What it costs

The university does not publish a tuition fee range for international students; confirm the current rate with its admissions office. Living costs in Marquette will depend on housing, transport, food, and personal spending, so check current local expenses before applying.

  5. Coming from abroad

The language of instruction is not stated. If you are moving from abroad, confirm the language requirement, how your qualifications are assessed, whether your chosen programme is available at the level you need, and what the university requires for study visa documentation.

  6. How it compares

Among 2,515 universities in the United States, Northern Michigan University sits in the middle of a very large and varied system. Its profile is more focused than a large multi-campus university because it lists 23 programmes here, but the broader university overview also says it offers around 180 programs across five academic divisions, so it gives you a smaller published programme list than the institution-wide total suggests.

Written from this university's catalogue entry and its cited encyclopedia summary. Figures are only shown where the institution or a cited source publishes them β€” always confirm fees and entry requirements with the university itself before applying.
