Everyday Robots Social Impact & Responsible Innovation Internship, USA

Job description

The Team
Born from X, the moonshot factory, and working alongside teams at Google, we’re building a new type of robot. One that can learn by itself, to help anyone with (almost) anything. With one foot in today and the other in tomorrow, we seek to turn the helper robots of science fiction novels into reality. Doing this requires taking on the hardest problems in robotics. All so we can work towards a future where helper robots are a part of a better every day, for everyone.
We know that no company, no moonshot, and no wild idea is greater than the efforts of the people behind it. Our team is thoughtful, driven, and deliberately diverse, working together in a creative and collaborative environment, where everyone’s perspectives and expertise is valued.
Your Impact
• Lead hands-on, self-driven social impact projects that make a real business impact
• Help build a unique culture of learning, social impact, and responsible innovation
• Flex between higher-level strategy and detailed execution work.
What You Will Learn
• How to operationalize responsible innovation in a growing and purpose-driven tech team
• The “inner workings” of cutting-edge robotics technology, the stakeholder ecosystem impacted by that technology, and the relevant public policy challenges
• How to guide an idea from theory to launch on a cross-functional team working on complex technical and social challenges
• How to craft compelling narratives about technology and impact to inspire and inform.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with our Head of Social Impact to investigate emerging trends in responsible innovation, identify opportunities for Everyday Robots to pursue, and operationalize your findings in the context of our team’s ongoing processes and experiments.

• Deliver feasibility and implementation plans for “social impact experiments” in the pipeline, with the opportunity to pitch and execute your own.

• Contribute to an internal speaker series.

• Develop written materials, such as blog posts, one-pagers, talking points, and more to effectively tell the Everyday Robots responsible innovation story.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong leadership, storytelling, and persuasive communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across a variety of stakeholder groups

• Self-starter with proven strategic thinking skills, a bias toward action, and the ability to navigate an ambiguous environment.

At Everyday Robots, we don’t just accept difference – we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our products and our community. We are proud to be an equal-opportunity workplace and an affirmative-action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or Veteran status. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
