UNDP Work from Home Internships – UNDP Energy and Climate Internship Program

Apply Now for the UNDP Energy and Climate Internship Program

In an era where the call for sustainable development and climate action echoes louder than ever, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is expanding its ranks, offering a unique internship opportunity within its pioneering Climate Hub. This opportunity is not just an internship; it’s your chance to be part of the global effort to combat climate change and push forward the agenda for sustainable energy.

Empowering Change through the Global Policy Network

At the heart of UNDP’s mission to drive the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) forward is its Global Policy Network (GPN). The GPN is a dynamic confluence of field-based and global technical expertise, spanning a wide array of knowledge domains including the crucial areas of nature, climate, energy, and waste. It’s where local knowledge meets global innovation, creating impactful solutions that resonate across the globe.

The Bureau for Policy and Programme Support: Your Platform for Impact

The Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) within the GPN is where policies are crafted and strategies are developed to support UNDP’s ambitious Strategic Plan. As an intern in the BPPS, you’ll be thrust into the heart of policy development, technical advice, and advocacy that shapes how countries tackle the pressing challenges of climate change and sustainable energy use.

The Climate Hub: Spearheading the Climate Promise

The UNDP Climate Hub is the beacon of UNDP’s commitment to climate action. With a robust portfolio of over USD 4 billion in country-level climate projects and a presence in over 142 countries, the Climate Hub is a powerhouse of innovation and advocacy. Interning here means you’ll be contributing directly to the “Climate Promise,” helping nations craft and implement ambitious climate pledges under the Paris Agreement.

A Call for Future Climate Leaders

We are searching for highly motivated and skilled individuals to join the Climate Hub’s Climate Change Policies and Strategies Team. As an Energy and Climate Intern, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of energy targets in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
  • Identify thematic trends in renewable energy, electrification, clean cooking, and more.
  • Collaborate on research and analytical work to support countries in their climate and energy initiatives.

This role is a perfect match for graduate students or recent graduates with a background in sustainable energy, engineering, renewable energy, or similar fields. Strong analytical and communication skills are a must, along with a passion for sustainability and climate action.

Why You Should Apply

This internship offers more than just professional experience; it offers the chance to make a real difference in the world’s climate response. You’ll gain unparalleled insight into the workings of a leading UN agency and contribute to global efforts to transition towards sustainable energy and climate resilience.
