Dundalk Institute of Technology offers the Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering (Apprenticeship), a 3-year level 7 Degree Apprenticeship. Students study Engineering Mathematics 1 and 2, Engineering Science, Electrical Sciences, and Manufacturing Engineering 1 and 2. The curriculum also includes topics such as Metrology, Manufacturing Automation, Lean Manufacturing, Robotics and Control, and Advanced Manufacturing Processes.
DkIT delivers the apprenticeship on campus with face-to-face classes and employer time. Students spend one semester per year at DkIT campus in Dundalk, with approximately 28 hours per week of class contact in a mix of lectures, tutorials, workshops, and laboratory classes. The remaining time is spent with the employer, and the apprenticeship includes 70% workplace time and 30% in DkIT. Students must complete an induction to start in mid-July for September or mid-November for January.
