AFSLP, Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program at University of Kyoto

AFLSP@KU was established by Bai Xian Asia Institute (BXAI). Its purpose is to provide a platform where students and educational institutions in Asia can build lasting relationships and deepen mutual understanding and trust by creating bridges across cultures. The program includes a two-year scholarship and a professional enrichment program.

AFLSP@KU is aimed at students who have citizenship of one of the listed countries or regions: China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Korea, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, East Timor, Philippines, Bhutan, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Maldives, Mongolia, Laos. The scholarship is provided for study at Kyoto University.

Selection is described through a “Selection Process.” Applicants are instructed to check the complete Eligibility and Selection-Criteria for those who have citizenship in the listed countries or regions, and to review the program obligations required of AFLSP scholars before applying.

The support is provided for two years and includes substantial living support (approximately JPY 150,000–220,000 per month in total, plus an admission fee and tuition fee, with the living support varying depending on the exchange rate). Scholars are required to complete the requirements of the program.

• Citizenship: Applicant must have citizenship of one of the following countries or regions: China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Korea, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, East Timor, Philippines, Bhutan, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Maldives, Mongolia, Laos.
• Eligibility assessment: Applicants must be qualified according to the complete Eligibility and Selection-Criteria.
• Program obligations: Applicants must check the obligations of AFLSP scholars and the requirement to complete the requirements of the program.

4. Check the application period: November 4 (Wed) to 13 (Fri), 2026 (closes at 5:00 pm Japan time).
