Hokkaido University Japan MEXT Scholarship

The Graduate School of Life Science’s “Life Science Researcher Training Program for Solving Global Issues” is designed for international students who major in life sciences and want to continue graduate studies in Japan. Students in this program can apply for the MEXT scholarship IGP special quota, funded by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

The program supports international students during their study at Hokkaido University. For the IGP special quota, 3-year scholarships are available for doctoral students and 2-year scholarships are available for master’s students.

Interested applicants are instructed to contact prospective supervisors to discuss suitability. After a professor agrees to sponsor a student, application documents are submitted to the supervisor, who then submits them to the IGP administration office by the stated deadline.
