Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) Japan Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship

Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship for Overseas Candidate is for international students located outside Japan who are scheduled to enroll in Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University’s Graduate School. Both master’s and doctoral program applicants are welcome to apply.

Applicants must apply to both Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University and the scholarship organization independently. Selection involves applying through the scholarship organization and indicating candidacy in the APU Online Application System.

Applicants first check eligibility and apply directly to the scholarship organization around specific periods tied to April and September enrollments. They then indicate their intention to be considered as a Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship candidate in APU’s Online Application System, and APU issues an Acceptance Letter after admissions results are announced.

The scholarship provides a monthly stipend for two years for master’s and two years for doctoral students. It also reimburses economy air travel and other travel related expenses up to a stated limit after arrival in Japan. • Must not hold Japanese nationality (dual nationality holders included)
• Must obtain a student visa to enter Japan for the purpose of study
• Residing outside Japan until the start of the program
• Have not resided in Japan for longer than 31 days in total; if the stay exceeded 31 days, it must have been due to a family situation (only applicable if the applicant had not completed compulsory education at the time), or the applicant was residing in Japan under the Rotary Youth Exchange high school program
• Japanese language proficiency at least equivalent to JLPT N4 or above
• Born after April 2, 1982
• If requirements 1 and 2 are not met at the time of application, the applicant may apply on condition that the requirements will be met by the time they arrive in Japan
• International students located outside Japan who are scheduled to enroll in APU’s Graduate School
• Master’s and doctoral program applicants are welcome to apply

• Monthly stipend: 140,000 JPY per month
• Duration of stipend: two years for master’s students; two years for doctoral students
• Economy air travel and other travel related expenses reimbursed up to 250,000 JPY after arrival in Japan

1. Check eligibility and apply directly to the scholarship organization around March for April enrollment and around August for September enrollment, and inform the organization that the Letter of Acceptance from the desired university will be issued after the scholarship application deadline.
2. In the APU Online Application System, indicate intention to be considered as a Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship candidate and submit the application to APU.
3. After admissions results are announced, APU will issue the Letter of Acceptance to candidates selected for the scholarship.
4. Submit the Acceptance Letter to the scholarship organization.
