Master of Arts in Development Studies

The Master of Arts in Development Studies covers topics in social sciences and humanities related to development. Students explore development concepts and apply their knowledge to social, economic, and environmental development challenges. The course is structured for full-time study over two years. It is designed for those with backgrounds in social sciences or humanities aiming for roles in development sectors.

• A minimum of Second Class First Division in relevant Social Sciences or Humanities subjects or a combination of both.
• A minimum of Second Class, Second Division 2(ii) BA with 65% mean score in Development Studies courses at BA Level.
• Equivalent qualifications from other institutions as approved by NUL Senate on the advice of the Department.

• Programmes Manager or Community Developer
• Consultant or Researcher or Socio-economic Planner or Development-Economic Planner/Advocator/Environmental Programmes Manager
• Positions in Non-governmental or International Governmental Organizations and International Development Agencies including UN development organs
• Roles in various government ministries dealing with rural, agricultural, environmental and urban development
• Positions in the public and private sectors
