Bachelor in Software Engineering Honors

The Bachelor in Software Engineering (Honours) at Nilai University College covers software engineering concepts and principles, with a greater emphasis on the software process. It includes courses on analysing, designing, developing, testing, implementing, evaluating, maintaining, and documenting large-scale software systems.

The programme runs for 3 years and is structured across 9 semesters. Core module areas include Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Back End Web Development, Software Design and Architecture, Software Verification and Validation, Software Process, and Software Project Management. Students complete SE Project I and SE Project II, followed by Industrial Training and Internship.

After graduation, the programme lists career options such as Software Engineer, Web Developer, Cybersecurity Analyst, Database Analyst, Java Programmer, Network Engineer, Database Administrator, Software Developer, Quality Engineer, and System Analyst.

STPM (Arts Stream): Pass with a minimum Grade of C (GP 2.00) in any (2) subjects and a credit in Additional Mathematics at the SPM Level or its equivalent; OR Pass with a minimum Grade of C (GP 2.00) in any (2) subjects AND a credit in SPM Mathematics and any one of the Science, Technology or Engineering subjects or its equivalent.

STPM (Science stream): Pass with a minimum Grade of C (GP 2.00) in Mathematics subject and ONE (1) Science / ICT subject; OR STAM: Pass with minimum grade of Jayyid in any 2 subjects and credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level OR Pass with minimum grade of Jayyid in any 2 subjects and credit in Mathematics and any Science, Technology or Engineering subjects at SPM level.

A-Level: Pass with Grade D in any two (2) subjects and a credit in Additional Mathematics at the SPM Level or its equivalent; OR Pass with a minimum of Grade D in any two (2) subjects and a credit in Mathematics and any one of the Science Technology or Engineering Subjects at SPM Level or its equivalent.

UEC: Pass with at least Grade B in any five (5) subjects and a credit in Additional Mathematics at the SPM Level or its equivalent; OR Pass with at least Grade B in any five (5) subjects and a credit in Mathematics and any one of the Science Technology or Engineering Subjects at SPM Level or its equivalent.

Foundation / Matriculation: Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a credit in Additional Mathematics at the SPM Level or its equivalent; OR Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a credit in Mathematics and any one of the Science Technology or Engineering Subjects at SPM Level or its equivalent. Candidates are required to take and pass reinforcement mathematics subject in the first semester.

Diploma in Computing fields (Level 4, MQF): Pass with minimum CGPA of 2.50, CGPA below 2.50 but more than 2.00 subject to internal evaluation / interview; or Any Diploma in Science and Technology (Level 4, MQF): Pass with a minimum CGPA 2.75; CGPA below 2.75 but more than 2.50 may subject internal evaluation / interview; or Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) / Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) in Computing fields: Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subjected to HEP Senate / Academic Board’s approval.

International students with qualifications from educational systems where English language is the main medium of instruction are exempted from this requirement. International students who do not fulfil the English Language Requirements may join the Intensive English Programme at Nilai University which builds their skills in the language and prepares them for the IELTS examination.
