Bachelor of Library and Information Studies

The Bachelor of Library and Information Studies prepares you for a career in library, archives, information, or record management. You study culturally responsive library and information services and collections, principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Ao Māori and other indigenous knowledge paradigms, and how to design and deliver library and information services for individual, organisational, and community needs.

Delivery is online study. You work through course materials online at a pace that suits you between the course start and end dates. There are no scheduled online classes, but some courses may include an in-person component such as practicum, workshops, noho marae, or exams. Some courses include supervised practice learning in an organisation or community setting, including up to 100 hours workplace practice for Library and Information Service Professional Practice (LIS704).
