Diploma in Engineering Level 6 Mechanical Engineering

The Open Polytechnic Diploma in Engineering Level 6 Mechanical Engineering is a Level 6 engineering technician qualification. You study topics that cover applying technical and conceptual knowledge to practical situations, critical thinking and problem solving in a broad engineering setting, and effective communication. The qualification also includes management and information technology within the qualification context, plus social, ethical, and environmental issues.

Study is delivered online. You work through course materials online at your own pace between the course start and end dates, with a laptop or desktop computer and reliable internet. There are no scheduled online classes to fit into your week. Eight courses include a compulsory two and a half-day laboratory, with lab locations provided at the beginning of your trimester.

This programme is available for part-time study only, with enrolment in a maximum of two courses per trimester. It aims to help you become an engineering technician and supports progression to the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering Practice.
