The Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Sector Leadership (OP7801) from Open Polytechnic is an online Level 7 qualification designed to help you work in the mental health sector as a leader. You develop strategies for engaging with people who use mental health services, while building an understanding of the sector’s complexity.
You study online using course materials at your own pace between the course start and end dates. There are no scheduled online classes to fit into your week, though some components may include an in-person element such as practicum, workshops, noho marae, or exams. A course facilitator guides you and answers questions, with support from a Student Mentor and the Library and Learning Centre teams.
On completion, you can demonstrate leadership in health and wellbeing organisations and in the community, work co-operatively and collaboratively across services, and apply appropriate models to inform evidence-based practice. You can also build capability in organisational budgeting, financial planning, service design, and evaluation for the health and wellbeing sector.
All you need is an undergraduate degree* in a relevant field, or professional experience in the sector to the satisfaction of the Programme Leader.
*If you have completed the Bachelor of Social Health and Wellbeing with Open Polytechnic you are unable to enrol in this programme.
