Ara International Student Academic Scholarship

The Ara International Student Academic Scholarship at Ara Institute of Canterbury recognises high-achieving international students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and a strong commitment to global engagement. Ara states it is designed for students who understand the value of internationalisation and want to contribute to the Ara community.

The scholarship is aimed at international students enrolling at Ara in a Bachelor or Master’s programme as new applicants for a Semester 2 July programme. Ara states there are 5 scholarships available for Semester Two and that the scholarship focuses on students who demonstrate excellent academic achievement and a commitment to contributing positively to the Ara community.

Ara states selection is based on meeting the stated eligibility requirements, including meeting programme entry requirements and holding a valid, approved student visa to study in New Zealand. Applicants must submit an online application form, a personal statement, an academic transcript, and two referee reports (with guidance for new international students who have not studied at Ara).

Ara states the scholarship tenure is one-year support. Ara also states that the NZD $5,000 scholarship will be applied as a credit toward the second year’s tuition fees.

• 7 scholarships of NZD $5,000 each
• NZD $5,000 applied as a credit toward the second year’s tuition fees

1. Complete and submit an online application form (link provided on the page).
2. Provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words outlining special circumstances that make you a candidate for this scholarship.
3. Provide your academic transcript showing your academic record in previous studies.
4. Provide two referee reports (one from a tutor) commenting on your ability to succeed in the programme and attesting to your character.
5. If you are a new international student and have not studied at Ara, provide two Character Referee reports (at least one from a previous tutor) using the template provided.
