University of Agder Scholarships

The Centre for Gender and Equality at the University of Agder is awarding five master’s grants of NOK 15,000 each to UiA students submitting their thesis during the– academic year. The stated purpose is to support master’s theses that highlight topics related to equality, inclusion, and diversity.

All students, regardless of study program, may apply for the grant. The Centre for Gender and Equality works with equality themes used as an analytical tool in any discipline, and the grant criteria require the thesis topic to address equality, diversity, and inclusion. The assessment also prioritizes theses focusing on Agder.

Applications are assessed based on the quality of the project description, relevance, and regional context. Equality in the thesis does not have to be the main theme, but it must be a central perspective in the analysis. One grant is earmarked for topics related to gender and sexual diversity.

If an application is approved, the grant is paid in two installments: half when students begin their thesis with a supervisor in place, and the remainder when the thesis is submitted and approved. Grant recipients are invited to two writing seminars during, and participation in at least one seminar is required. After submission, recipients must share their results with the Centre for Gender and Equality and other interested parties either by presenting at a seminar or through an interview for a UiA web article.

• Applicant must be a UiA student submitting a master’s thesis.
• Study program: all students, regardless of study program, may apply.
• Thesis must address a topic related to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• Equality can be used as an analytical tool in any discipline; equality must be a central perspective in the thesis analysis.
• Application requires including the thesis supervisor name (this can be submitted later).
• Application must include a project outline (max. 3 pages) meeting listed content requirements; if requirements are not met, the application will not be considered.
• Applicant must attach confirmation of admission to a master’s program at UiA (for example, a screenshot from Studentweb).

• Grant amount: NOK 15,000 (five master’s grants; paid in two installments: half when beginning the thesis with a supervisor in place, and the remainder when the thesis is submitted and approved).
• Invited to two writing seminars during 2027; participation in at least one seminar is required.
• Academic follow-up and dissemination support during the process (as described by the Centre for Gender and Equality).

1. Write an application introducing yourself, your master’s program, the topic of your thesis, and your motivation; explain why the topic is relevant and how it connects to equality. Include the name of your supervisor (this can be submitted later).
2. Attach a project outline (max. 3 pages) including the topic, research question, choice of theory and method, and a progress plan. Ensure all requirements are met, since applications will not be considered if requirements are not met.
3. Attach confirmation of admission to a master’s program at UiA (for example, a screenshot from Studentweb).
4. Submit your application by 2026-10-01.
