Diploma in Echocardiography

The Diploma in Echocardiography is a program for cardiac sonographers. It focuses on echocardiography as a non-invasive imaging technique to evaluate patients with known or suspected heart disease. Students study how diagnostic ultrasound techniques assess cardiac valves and structures, using M-mode, 2-dimensional, color Doppler, continuous wave, pulse wave, harmonics, strain and strain rate imaging.

The curriculum also emphasizes specialized echo areas, including contrast, stress, transesophageal, 3 dimensional, intracardiac, intravascular, and epicardial echo. The program offers didactic and clinical experience to develop a fully competent cardiac sonographer, in an environment based on teamwork and mutual respect.
