Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies

The Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies at the University of Santo Tomas is an interdisciplinary program that supports basic research on traditional and contemporary issues of Asia. It connects Social Sciences topics such as politics, economics, and sociology with Humanities areas such as history, philosophy, and literature. The curriculum orients students to historical, philosophical, cultural, sociological, economic, and political theories used as lenses for understanding developments and realities in the past and present.

Students take a structured program across multiple terms, including introductory courses in Asian Studies, the Social Sciences and Humanities, and readings in Philippine history. The curriculum includes courses such as Asian Civilization, The Great Works, Life and Works of Rizal, Modern Southeast Asia, International Relations in East Asia, Eastern Philosophies 1, Asian Geography and Ethnography, Research Methods, and professional electives. Students also take National Service Training Program and Physical Activities Toward Health and Fitness courses.
