The Diploma in Mathematics at the University of the Philippines Diliman is a one-year post-baccalaureate program for non-mathematics major students. It is designed to prepare students for a master’s program in mathematics. The curriculum consists of selected courses from the B.S. Mathematics program.
Students complete 32 units of course work across two semesters. It trains students to demonstrate proficiency in algebra and analysis, and to use skills in pattern recognition, generalization, abstraction, critical analysis, synthesis, problem-solving, and rigorous argument. The program also includes work on reading and writing mathematical proofs and performing basic mathematical and statistical computations using appropriate technologies.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, and completion of college mathematics courses including differential and integral calculus. Admission also follows the general requirements for admission set forth by the College of Science.
