Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarships at University of Alberta in Canada, 2016
Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Alberta is inviting applications for scholarships to Canadian students for pursuing graduate studies in Alberta.
The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research aims to provide support and services to graduate applicants, students, and graduate programs and administers numerous graduate scholarships and awards.
The University of Alberta is a public research university located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was founded in 1908 by Alexander Cameron Rutherford, the first premier of Alberta, and Henry Marshall Tory, its first president. Its enabling legislation is the Post-secondary Learning Act.
English is the primary language of instruction and communication at UAlberta. All applicants must be proficient in English prior to admission.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing masters and doctoral program.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded at the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research.
Scholarship Award:
The Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship at the master’s level is valued at up to $10,800 for a full-value award, and up to $5,400 for a half-value award. The start date and duration of the award will be determined by the department.
The Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship at the doctoral level is valued at up to $15,000 for a full-value award, and up to $7,500 for a half-value award. The start date and duration of the award will be determined by the department.
Scholarship can be taken in the Canada
Eligibility: Eligible applicants must
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident during the tenure of the award.
- Be registered full-time during the duration of the award.
- Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher over the last 15 credits of graded coursework (or closest approximation thereof).
- Doctoral applicants must be registered in their 1st – 6th year of a doctoral degree program, or must be recommended for admission to a graduate program by the department.
- Master’s applicants must be registered in their 1st – 4th year of a master’s degree program, or must be recommended for admission to a graduate program by the department.
Nationality: Canadian citizens can apply for this scholarship.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement:
Master’s Programs: Applicants are normally required to have completed a four-year baccalaureate degree, or its academic equivalent, from an academic institution recognised by the University of Alberta.
Doctoral Programs: Applicants are normally required to have completed a master’s degree, or its academic equivalent, from an academic institution recognised by the University of Alberta.
Test Requirement: No

How to Apply: Students should contact their department for details about the department selection process and the internal department application deadline (if applicable). Some departments may choose to run an internal competition in which students are required to complete an application package as part of the department selection process. Supporting documents may include the following:
- Academic documents (transcripts, degree certificates)
- English Language Proficiency scores such as IELTS, Pearson, TOEFL, etc. (if applicable)
- Additional departmental requirements such as:
-CV, statement of intent, and writing samples
-GRE, GMAT, or other test scores.
