The Ashesi-ETH Master in Mechatronic Engineering is a fully funded, dual-credential graduate programme jointly developed by Ashesi University (Ghana) and ETH Zurich (Switzerland), aimed at engineering graduates from across Africa. Students study primarily at Ashesi's campus in Ghana, with coursework, mentorship, and academic input from ETH Zurich, and graduate with a dual credential: an MSc/MPhil in Mechatronic Engineering from Ashesi plus a Master of Advanced Studies from ETH Zurich.
Now in its fifth cohort (the most recent intake began in February 2026), the programme has enrolled 137 students to date, with 49 graduates so far - an established, recurring scholarship rather than a one-off pilot.
Where awarded, funding is comprehensive: tuition and fees, a laptop and equipment, housing, health insurance, one annual round-trip flight home, a monthly stipend, plus mentorship and internship support.
Note: the exact number of scholarships awarded per cohort, and whether funding covers 100% of admitted students, is not published - confirm current details with the programme when applying.
This is a Master's-level dual-credential programme: graduates receive an MSc/MPhil in Mechatronic Engineering from Ashesi University together with a Master of Advanced Studies from ETH Zurich.
The programme is restricted to engineering applicants. Eligible backgrounds include a bachelor's or master's degree in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, computer, or a closely related engineering discipline. It is not open to non-engineering backgrounds.
The programme is open to graduate students from across Africa. It is an Africa-focused scholarship, not a globally open one - applicants should be nationals of, or otherwise eligible as, African students under the programme's criteria.
The next intake's application deadline is typically around 30 June each year - confirm the exact current-cycle date on the official programme page before applying.
Applications are made on the awarding body's own site. educads does not collect applications or fees.
