University of Pecs Hungary Government Scholarships (Stipendium Hungaricum)

About this scholarship

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme is the Hungarian Government's flagship scholarship for international students. Managed by the Tempus Public Foundation, it allows students from partner countries to study full-time bachelor, master, one-tier master and doctoral programmes taught in English at the University of Pécs (PTE), one of Hungary's oldest and largest universities.

The scholarship is fully funded. Scholars are exempt from tuition fees and receive a monthly stipend of HUF 43,700 at bachelor and master level or HUF 140,000 at doctoral level, paid for twelve months a year. They are also given a place in a university dormitory or a monthly housing contribution of HUF 40,000, plus medical insurance with supplementary coverage of up to HUF 65,000 per year.

Applications are submitted online through the Tempus Public Foundation portal by 15 January each year, and applicants must also be nominated by the responsible authority in their home country. There are more than 90 sending partner countries; applicants should check that their country has a valid bilateral agreement before applying. The University of Pécs evaluates applications by the end of May, and results are announced by mid-July for studies starting in September.
