What Is the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship?

The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship is designed exclusively for Egyptian nationals residing in Egypt. It provides comprehensive financial support for selected students to study at elite U.S. institutions, with the expectation that scholars will return to Egypt after graduation and contribute their skills to national development.

The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship covers:

This scholarship is open to students from Egypt.

Undergraduate Applicants Must:

• Be Egyptian nationals and residents of Egypt

• Preferably not hold dual nationality

• Have not lived, studied, or worked abroad for more than 3 years

• Commit to returning to Egypt for 2 years after graduation

• Achieve:

  • GPA: 3.5 / 90% (Thanaweyya Amma or equivalent)

  • TOEFL iBT: 100+

  • SAT:

    • Old SAT: 2100 total (700 each section), or

    • New SAT: 1450 total (730 EBRW, 730 Math), or

    • SAT II: 600+ in three subjects

• Demonstrate strong extracurricular involvement

Master’s Applicants Must:

• Be Egyptian nationals residing in Egypt

• Have not lived abroad for more than 3 years

• Commit to returning to Egypt for 2 years after graduation

• Hold a GPA of 3.5 / Very Good or above

• Have at least 3 years of work experience

• Language & test requirements:

  • TOEFL iBT: 100+

  • GMAT (MBA): 650+ (within 5 years), or

  • GRE (new): Overall 302, Analytical Writing 4.5

• Fields: Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management

Note: Candidates who already hold a foreign master’s degree or an Egyptian master’s in the same field are not eligible.
