School Doctoral Scholarships at University of Edinburgh in UK 2015

Applications are invited for  School Doctoral Scholarships for UK/EU and Overseas students for 2015-2016 entry. Up to three awards will be available. Applicants must hold a UK first class honours undergraduate degree (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant field. The application deadline is 5 January 2015.

  • Scholarships are awarded in the following fields :Accounting, Archaeology, Architecture & Landscape Architecture, Art & Design, Biological, Biomedical & Life Sciences, Business, Management & Finance, Celtic & Scottish Studies, Chemistry, Classics, Computing & Informatics, Counseling & Psychotherapy, Dentistry, Earth Sciences, Economics, Education, Engineering, English, Environmental & Ecological Sciences, Film & Theatre, Geography, Health Studies, History, History of Art, Languages, Countries & Cultures, Law, Linguistics, Mathematics & Statistics, Medicine, Music, Nursing, Philosophy, Physics & Astronomy, Politics, Psychology, Religious Studies & Divinity, Social Anthropology, Social Policy, Social Work, Sociology, Sport, Veterinary Medicine (For EU applicants intending to apply to the (AHRC) for funding, university strongly advise the applicants to also apply for the School of History, Classics and Archaeology Doctoral Scholarships).
  • Scholarships are available for PhD level of study.
  • The University of Edinburgh is providing these Scholarships.

Eligibility: Applicants for these awards must:
-have submitted an application for study by 5 January 2015.
-hold a UK first class honours undergraduate degree (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant field
-demonstrate an equally high standard of academic performance in a postgraduate masters degree in a relevant field, or be on course to do so.

  • UK/EU and Overseas students can apply for these scholarships.
  • These PhD studentships will pay a stipend at the equivalent rate to that offered by the Research Councils (value is still to be agreed but for guidance, in 2014/15 this was £13,863). Tuition fees at the EU rate will also be paid. Payment will be made in equal monthly installments for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory performance. Awards will be paid pro-rata for part-time candidates. As one of the intentions of these awards is to enhance the skills portfolio of successful candidates, awardees will normally be required undertake specified teaching and related duties as an integral part of their scholarship package. For EU applicants intending to apply to the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) for fundingwe strongly advise you to also apply for the School of History, Classics and Archaeology Doctoral Scholarships, as well as any others you may be eligible for, as AHRC will consider you for EU rate tuition fees awards only.
  • Up to three awards will be available.
  • These PhD studentships will pay a stipend at the equivalent rate to that offered by the Research Councils (value is still to be agreed but for guidance, in 2014/15 this was £13,863).
  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application as soon as possible after the deadline.
