Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Education

The Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Education is provided by the National Institute of Education (NIE) at Nanyang Technological University. It includes a Geography major across Human Geography, Physical Geography, and Geographical Techniques. Students also complete education and pedagogy courses for effective teaching.

The programme is full-time and lasts 4 years, with a listed bond length of 4 years. Students are trained in field methods and build technical competencies in data analytics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and remote sensing. NIE also provides the Sustainability Learning Lab for student teachers and staff to connect through shared interests in sustainability and sustainable development.

Student teachers can gain international perspectives through the International Practicum, Semester Exchange, and Service and Leadership Training programmes. The curriculum also includes Group Endeavours in Service Learning (GESL) projects for service to the community. Graduands receive a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Geography and Education, conferred by NTU.

Prospective applicants are required to fulfil both NTU/NIE and MOE requirements. For the academic discipline requirements, applicants have “No pre-requisites”.
