Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a Second Major in Society Urban Systems

The Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a Second Major in Society & Urban Systems at Nanyang Technological University is a civil engineering programme jointly offered by the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. It integrates socio-economic and environmental perspectives with core engineering skills for infrastructure development and urban solutions.

Students learn social science aspects of urban systems planning and policy-making while maintaining an engineering foundation. The programme follows an Interdisciplinary Common Core (ICC) curriculum with Interdisciplinary Collaborative Core (ICC) at approximately 25%, Major Requirements at approximately 60%, and Broadening and Deepening Electives (BDE) at approximately 15%. It is a four-year, full-time direct honours programme and includes a Professional Internship (PI) within the curriculum structure.

Minimum Subject Requirements

Applicants are expected to fulfil these minimum subject requirements.

• Singapore Cambridge GCE 'A' Level: H2 Level pass in Mathematics, and H2 Level pass in Physics / Chemistry / Biology /Computing
• International Baccalaureate Diploma: Mathematics at Higher Level, and Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Computer Science at Higher Level
• NUS High School Diploma: Major CAP of 2.0 in Mathematics, and Major CAP of 2.0 in Physics / Chemistry / Biology
• International and Other Qualifications: Mathematics at Senior High School Level, and Physics / Chemistry / Biology at Senior High School Level, and Physics at Junior High School Level*
• * Physics at Junior High School level is only applicable to applicants who have not read Physics at Senior High School Level.

Polytechnic Diploma: Applicants with relevant diplomas from one of the local polytechnics may apply for admission.

Course exemptions: Students with outstanding ‘A’ Level, IB, NUS High School Diploma, or Polytechnic Diploma results may qualify for exemptions from selected first-year courses (up to three for pre-university qualifications).
